5 Trends that show moving BI to the Cloud is a top priority for Enterprises
As part of the journey to become an insights-driven business, enterprises need to modernize their BI technologies and architectures. In our recent webinar, How the Cloud will shape the future of Enterprise BI, our guest speaker, Boris Evelson, Vice President and Principal Analyst at Forrester Research, shared some key trends that show how enterprises are leveraging the Cloud to stay ahead of the competition. If you didn’t get a chance to tune in, you could view the recording here.

Moving BI to the Cloud is a top priority for enterprises who want to deploy modern technologies to drive business outcomes. As Boris said, “Migrating your data lakes and BI to the Public Cloud is a matter of when not if.”

As per Forrester’s Global Business Technographics Priorities & Journey Survey, 2018, here are some interesting trends that show how enterprises are leveraging elasticity and agility of the Cloud to drive their digital transformations:

  1. 30% of the organizations going through digital transformation are moving their Enterprise applications to the Cloud
  2. Increased usage of the Cloud is one of the top 5 enterprise technology priorities
  3. More than a third of enterprise data is already stored and processed in the Cloud
  4. Almost one-third of all Big Data plans include Public Cloud services, and 20% of Public Cloud users use BI products as a service in the Cloud
  5. Of all the companies that are using Public Cloud services, 80% have already complemented or replaced Enterprise BI with Cloud services or plan to do so in the next two years

As data volumes in the Cloud increase, it will become necessary for organizations to evaluate new technologies that enable BI in the Cloud with greater elasticity and better performance. As per Forrester survey, companies are increasing the amount of data stored in the Public Cloud. Of the companies who have already moved to the Cloud, 43% are planning to increase their data in the Cloud by 5-10% in the next year, and 21% plan to increase it by more than 10%.
